Fighting Temptations

I am pleased to report that I did not use my gift card this weekend.

I was tempted with a $16 pair of dress pants at BR Outlet (I know! I didn’t think I would find anything under $20 either!) and just for kicks I tried them on. Well, apparently I grabbed the wrong size and realized that I can snugly fit into a size two! I checked every possible tag just to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. I’ve always been a size four/six kind of girl, so to even shimmy a size two up my thighs is nothing short of a miracle.

But I fought the temptation and didn’t get the pants. I really don’t need any more work pants anyways, even if they were ridiculously on sale. Because I was slightly proud of my $0 shopping spree, and also slightly annoyed I didn’t have any new spring clothes, I went home and did the big winter/summer swap. It was a lovely sunny afternoon and a fantastic reunion with color. Goodbye drab browns, grays and blacks! Of course, the 29-degree weather we had this morning kind of makes me wished I had waited a week.

Speaking of size-two pants: one of my goals is to lose ten pounds for my roommate’s wedding in July. I am at the high end of the recommended weight for my height, so ten pounds would bring me closer to the low/middle range. Plus that strapless bridesmaids dress really needs good toned arms in order to look fabulous. In January I joined a gym after a few miserably cold mornings of running outside. I try to go at least three mornings a week and I’m somewhat consistent. It can be a challenge to get my butt out of bed at 5:45, but I just love the feeling of getting it over with.

Wow what a rambling Monday post this has turned into! I’ll leave you with my goals for the week:

  • Don’t grocery shop until I’ve eaten all the food I have in my fridge/pantry.
  • Go to the gym three times this week.
  • Post clothes on eBay to sell.
  • Survive with the money left in my account. This is always my goal at the end of the month… stupid once-a-month paychecks!

  • btw, I also have once a month paychecks and I’m always struggling at the end of the month. No matter how much I plan I never have as much left over as I hoped.

  • Wow, I’m impressed you didn’t snatch up those pants!
I do have a rule when shopping and it’s that if I don’t LOVE it, I can’t get it. Congrats on being a two! Working out is still something I’m trying to get into again…. so far it’s been a slight success at best!
