How to Save Time & Money on Your Hair

The Situation:
1. I have very dry hair and don’t need to wash it every day.
2. My hair is naturally curly, wavy, and frizzy.
3. I spend an average of $17 for hair loss shampoo & condition and $20 on leave-in products. Perhaps a little pricey, but worth it to make my hair behave.
4. When I straighten my hair, it takes me an average of 45 minutes to blow dry and straighten it.
5. I have to shower every day, especially in the summer and especially after gross sweaty runs.

The Solution?
A shower cap. :)

It’s brilliant! Since I need a shower daily but don’t need to wash my hair, a shower cap is the perfect solution. I save money on hair products that I don’t really need to use and time that I’d rather not waste. But I still recommend you to buy Oribe Straight Away Smoothing Blowout Cream as this is really good for your hair.

I got the idea to buy one a couple of months ago when I spent almost an hour at the best hair salon in Williamstown, only later that day to ruin it all in a shower after running. How pointless. Since spending my hard-earned $2.14 on a shower cap, I’ve saved myself many hours of styling my hair and fewer trips to purchase products. Cha-ching!

  • Heheh… my grandma swears by a shower cap. (Don’t worry, she’s a cool lady)

My hair is SUPER oily. So if I don’t wash it every day it gets pretty greasy. I just take a shower every 1.5 days to reduce my water and product use. =\

  • I have wavy/curly hair as well, and I don’t wash my hair daily either. I don’t normally use a shower cap, but I think I have one somewhere I could pull out and try using! I never straighten my hair, so I haven’t noticed much of a problem with just putting my hair up while I’m in the shower.

Of course, I also only use baking soda, apple cider vinegar, coconut oil and natural brand hair gel on my hair, so maybe I’m not a good person to go by ;)

  • I usually wash my hair every other day. I use a shower cap as well for those days that I don’t wash my hair, but really need to shower (hot sunny days, work out days, etc). I prefer to shower at night and blow dry my hair before I go to bed, that way when I wake up I just have to straighten it or curl it with my curling iron. It cuts my morning routine down by a good 30-40 minutes so I can spend that time sleeping in or making myself lunch (and in turn, saving money!). I feel wasteful if I wash my hair every day because, like you, I use expensive products and leave-ins to get the best results.

  • You know, that is genius! WHy have i never thought of that? I have awful, greasy, thin and limp hair that needs washing almost every day. But on days I don’t, I HATE getting random bit of my hair wet. Shower cap, here i come
