One reason I love summer is because no one judges you for eating ice cream. It’s expected, almost required to have at least one cold, refreshing ice cream cone during the hot summer days. (Sadly, people do judge if you have ice cream in the winter, but of course that doesn’t stop me.)
Since ice cream is my favorite dessert, it’s no surprise that one of my favorite kitchen appliance is my ice cream maker. My mother-in-law gave me her old one last summer, and since then I have made strawberry, vanilla, chocolate chip, and even experimented with candy bar ice cream. However, my very favorite so far is peach. I used fresh peaches from the farmer’s market (so ripe and delicious!) and it’s turned out to be my creamiest, most decadent batch yet.
I also suggest inviting friends over after you make this, otherwise, you may be tempted to eat the entire thing by yourself.
Homemade Peach Ice Cream
adapted from AllRecipes
3 eggs, beaten
1 3/4 cups white sugar
6 to 7 fresh peaches, pitted and chopped
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup half-and-half cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
In large bowl, mix together eggs and sugar until smooth; puree peaches in blender or food processor and stir 5 cups of puree into egg mixture. Stir in cream, half-and-half, vanilla and salt and mix well. Pour mixture into freezer canister of ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer’s instructions. Makes 2 quarts, 16 servings
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
This sounds amazing! I love peach ice cream and I’m so jealous you have an ice cream maker. It’s definitely on the list of “I need this in my life” future purchases.
That photo looks so delicious – I’m suddenly craving peach ice cream big time! I wish I had an ice cream maker . . . it’s always seemed like one of those appliances that would just sit around collecting dust in my cupboard but this post nearly convinces me that it would be worth it just to try this recipe. In the meantime, I’m on the hunt for peach ice cream at the store!
My family and I LOVE this recipe! Thank you so much for sharing… this is our new favorite treat!!
