One of the many reasons I love this season is decorating. I love buying pumpkins and gourds and filling my home with jars of candy corn. In fact, my sister and I were talking about how autumn decorating is so much fun because there are so little opportunities for decorating in the summer. I have been busy pinning ideas on Pinterest and finally got around to making some things for our home to welcome in the season.
I made a yarn wreath for our door–they seem to be all the rage these days. I used this tutorial, except I didn’t incorporate fabric, just felt. I used a light gray yarn so that I can easily switch out the flowers for other seasons. It was a great project to work while watching TV.
I also made some autumn garland of felt leaves to hang on our hutch in the dining room. I used this tutorial, and it was even easier than the wreath.
Both projects cost me about $20, but it could be cheaper if you already own a glue gun or have leftover yarn.
- Glue gun: $6
- Straw wreath: $5
- Felt: like $3 for 10 sheets (it’s ridiculously cheap!)
- Yarn: gray and brown colors at $3/each
Voila! Another Pinterest project complete. Now, if I can only tackle a few other items in my boards…. :)
Have you done any autumn decorating this season? What crafts have you been making lately or want to?
