Wellness Wednesday :: Health & Fitness Apps

Happy Wednesday! I hope you all are having a great week. Today I’d like to find out your favorite workout apps. Do you have an app running (pun intended) when you exercise? Do you count your calories online or using an app? Which are your favorites?

My favorite health / nutrition app is My Fitness Pal. I don’t use it religiously, but after glutinous weekends I like to dust it off to get myself back on track. It’s amazing what little snacks and licks and bites add up to! I keep my calories around 1,200- 1,300 per day to lose 1 pound a week. I don’t stick to it every day, but if I’m in that range 3-4 days a week, I feel like that’s pretty healthy. Here’s a screenshot of what my day looks like so far:

My favorite fitness app is Mi Coach. My friend Becca first told me about it and it has been a great motivating tool while I run. It tracks your route, calories, time, distance, and tells you whether to speed up or slow down to meet your goal level. You can also connect it with your music and it will show you what music played during your run afterwards. What will they come up with next?

  • I just started using My Fitness Pal yesterday and it is eye-opening! I hadn’t realized how much the little snacks added up. The points make it feel kind of like a game, and I find myself motivated to exercise more and eat less. Here’s hoping I can keep it up!

  • Ooh, I love fitness apps! My favorites are runkeeper for tracking runs, Nike training club for “free personal training sessions” and when I want to count calories I use lose it.

    I swear by runkeeper – I have all my runs from the past several years in there, so I can see my distance and speed progress. It’s great!
