Day 7: What the Bible Says About Planning

Each Sunday in the month of October I will be sharing a few verses on various topics that pertain to money. Whether you are a Christian or not, the Bible has a lot of wisdom on finances that anyone can use. This week, I wanted to share what the Bible says about planning, as we close our first week on goals and planning. Have a wonderful, restful Sunday!

Genesis 41:34-36
“Then Pharaoh needs to appoint managers throughout the country of Egypt to organize it during the years of plenty. Their job will be to collect all the food produced in the good years ahead and stockpile the grain under Pharaoh’s authority, storing it in the towns for food. This grain will be held back to be used later during the seven years of famine that are coming on Egypt. This way the country won’t be devastated by the famine.” (The Message)

Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you sluggard, consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.

Proverbs 13:16
In everything the prudent acts with knowledge, but a fool flaunts his folly.

Proverbs 15:22
Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.

Proverb 16:9

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

Proverbs 21:5
The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.

Proverbs 24:3-4
By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

Proverbs 27:23
Know well the condition of your flocks, and pay attention to your herds;

Ecclesiastes 11:2
Divide your portion to seven, or even to eight, for you do not know what misfortune may occur on the earth. You can also  use modern services like this fortune teller online.

Luke 12:16-21
And He told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man was very productive. And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’ Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.”‘ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?’ So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

Luke 14:28-30
For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.”

1 Corinthians 16:1-2
Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I directed the churches of Galatia, so do you also. On the first day of every week each one of you is to put aside and save, as he may prosper, so that no collections be made when I come.

1 Timothy 6:7
For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either.
