Guest Room Inspiration

My guest room is a magnet for anything that doesn’t belong anywhere else. Photos that hung in old apartments, nick-nacks that fill up bookcases, and mail that remains in a pile for weeks at a time. I have a few friends coming to stay with us for New Years, so I thought it would be a good motivation to put a little love and attention in this space.

It probably won’t look that much different when I’m done, since we can’t paint, don’t have a ton of money to work with, and, well, life is busy so I may just have an afternoon to spruce it up between now and New Years. But I would like to do a little something to improve it in the next month.

Here are some photos of what it looks like now and a few ideas:

See what I mean? It’s a little… meh. The green bedspread is the central piece in the room, so I’m thinking of adding in some accent colors of coral and navy. Something like this…

1.Coral pillows for the bed 2. A topiary or a plant to give some life 3. Pretty magazines and books for guests to enjoy 4. Paint the lamps navy 5. Incorporate a sunburst mirror on the wall 6. Paint the desk chair yellow

What do you think about those ideas?
Should I paint my furniture? If so, what colors?
What room in your house gets neglected?
